Angular contact ball bearings have the ability to withstand radial and axial loads in one direction. Force is transmitted through this bearing in 4 types of angles (called contact angles):15 degrees, 25 degrees, 30 degrees and 40 degrees. The larger the contact angle, the higher the axial load. Thrust ball bearings are mainly used as supports for rolling screws in machine tools. It has higher shaft stiffness and stroke accuracy, as well as lower frictional torque. Thrust ball bearings adopt non-separable design.
However, for high-speed  applications, smaller contact angles are still preferred. Usually, two bearings of this type are re-paired and the clearance between them is adjusted to suit the load-bearing requirements as well as the stiffness – rigidity of the bearing assembly.

Cage made of stamped steel is very commonly used. However, for high-precision ball bearings with contact angles less than 30 degrees, a polyamide cage is used.
The international designation of this type of bearing usually has 4 codes starting with the number 7.
